History

After graduating from Tulane Law School in 1999, I began my legal career at a small firm in Georgia. My practice originally focused on insurance litigation, representing insurers addressing complex contract litigation and interpretation. It is this foundation and experience that I use in my practice today.

When I moved to California I worked at a firm in Southern California that handled intellectual property and insurance litigation on behalf of individuals and policyholders. Upon moving to the Bay Area, I returned to insurer-focused insurance coverage litigation.

When I became a father, I took a couple of years off to focus on raising my growing family. I first decided I wanted to work on my own when I was asked by a family friend to help him with a small investment property which the tenant, a major food retailer, attempted to force a substantial rent reduction upon him. This investment property was this person’s retirement and he would have lost his own home without help in working out an agreement that provided financial protection for my friend.

The law firm I was working for on a contract basis didn’t want to ‘get involved’ because the issue was going to be a new area. I realized it was an area that would have a serious, lasting, and immeasurable effect on my friend. He could not afford the high-priced firm that had handled the sale. I felt compelled to step in and step up to help.

And that is how I see many of the people I work with today. They are hard-working individuals who are unfamiliar with the legal system and unsure of where to turn.

In addition to residential real estate litigation, I handle litigation in insurance coverage, intellectual property and personal injury. I also act as a regular counsel to small businesses in a wide range of transactional and litigation matters.

I am a member of the Alameda County Bar Association, the San Mateo County Bar Association, and The Santa Clara County Plaintiff Trial Lawyers Association. My volunteer time goes to the San Mateo County Community Law Night and Lawyers in the Library.
